Our project is designed to meet the needs of Black and Dual Heritage pupils from Liverpool.

Research shows that children in this group often don't do as well as their classmates. 

Liverpool EMTAS, the Black Achievement Project and schools are working to help pupils to reach their potential.

The Project:

  • Provides additional curriculum and pastoral support for Black and Dual Heritage pupils. 
  • Helps promote positive identities. 
  • Helps increase resources available to schools for use with Black Learners. 
  • Helps increase parental involvement.  
  • Helps spread good practice.              

We study data and work with schools, to help identify pupils. 

Curriculum & Pastoral Support Officers work to create exciting and new projects

Projects have included:

  • Studying peoples life stories. 
  • Interviewing relatives. 
  • Listening to guest speakers. 
  • Visiting places connected with studies  

Project resources

Three books are available to all Liverpool schools, to help promote the study of Black history. 

'Black Achievers' and 'My Personal History' are aimed at Key Stage 2 learners, and 'Walk with Us! Is a development from an existing urban history trail.
