Pet Animals Act, 1951

A licence is required from the council if a person wishes to carry on the business of selling animals at any premises of any nature which include private dwellings.

The application fee is £110.00, for pet shops not selling kittens and puppies and £220.00 for those selling kittens and puppies. This includes an initial inspection by a nominated vet. 

The licence is for a maximum period of 12 months all expire on the 31 December of each year.
