The Gambling Act 2005 comes into force on 1 September 2007. The new legislation transferred responsibility for the licensing of gambling premises from the local magistrates courts to the Licensing Authority (the City Council). The Gambling Commission are currently dealing with applications for Personal Licensing and Operating Licences.

New Casino Licences

No further applications may be made to the Liverpool City Council Licensing Authority for a Casino, as the City Council did not bid for one of the new 17 Casino Licences (1 regional, 8 large and 8 small casinos) under the Gambling Act 2005.
