From time to time there may be difficulties with certain licensed premises that may be in breach of  one or more of the licensing objectives:

  • Prevention of Crime and Disorder
  • Prevention of Public Nuisance
  • Public Safety
  • Protection of Children from Harm

This may require the premises licence or club premises certificate to be reviewed by the licensing authority.

A review of a premises licence or club premises certificate may be called by any of the Responsible Authorities, such as the police, trading standards (weights and measures),  or by an Interested Party such as a resident or person running a business in the vicinity of the licensed premises.

When Crime and or Disorder occurs at or near a licensed premises, it is the responsibility of the Police  to deal with those types of incidents. You may call 999 if you consider the incident an emergency. If you do not consider the matter an emergency then you should call 0151 709 6010, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You may also speak to your Local Neighbourhood Policing team who will be pleased to assist you.

To assist interested parties, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has prepared a useful  guide for interested parties when applying for a review (PDF [138.9Kb] opens in new window) of a premises licence or club premises certificate.
