Change of Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS)

When the operator of a premises that supplies alcohol decides to change the Designated Premises Supervisor, the premises licence must be varied to show the new DPS and it is important that the licensing authority and police are notified of this change as soon as possible. The new DPS must also consent to this variation.

Both the variation of premises licence to specify a DPS (PDF [93Kb] opens in new window) application form and consent form (PDF [27.6Kb] opens in new window) may be accessed here.

DPS Request to be removed from Premises Licence Notification Forms

For a variety of reasons, there may be circumstances when a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) decides to leave a premises selling alcohol by retail and no longer wishes to authorise the sale or supply of alcohol. Until the Premises Licence has been varied to specify a new DPS, any sale or supply of alcohol would be unlawful.

Liverpool City Council Licensing Authority recommends that the departing DPS complete notification forms (PDF [24.1Kb] opens in new window), one of which is to be handed to the Licensing Authority and the other to the Premises Licence holder, informing them that they have left the premises and no longer authorises the sale of alcohol.
