Licensing and Permissions

The Licensing Unit is based in Municipal Buildings, Dale Street, Liverpool City Centre.

We are responsible for the issue of a wide variety of licences and permits ensuring that the minimum standards of public safety and public protection are met.

We monitor and process applications and provide help and guidance on the kind of licence or permission you may need. Most applications involve the payment of an administration fee.

  • will be responsible and accountable for the accuracy and quality of their work.
  • will treat all enquiries impartially with discretion and in confidence.
  • are given the highest quality training to deliver an excellent service to you.         

Our Targets;

  • to determine licence/permissions on the day of receipt whenever possible or within the statutory period as appropriate.
  • to respond to requests for advice and information within three working days.
  • to reply to correspondence within five working days.
  • return your telephone call on the same day or have someone tell you why the person dealing with your. matter cannot and when the call will be returned.     

Our Enforcement Policy;

We will carry out our enforcement procedures in accordance with The Statutory Code of Practice for Regulators (PDF [48.9Kb] opens in new window), which came into force on 6 April 2008. The new code replaces the Voluntary Concordat on Good Enforcement that had been adopted by the City Council.
