Letting of contracts
The Procurement Support Unit regularly issues tenders for a wide range of goods and services on behalf of Liverpool City Council. These contracts are advertised in a variety of ways to allow as many potential suppliers as possible the opportunity to bid.
Where are Liverpool City Council contracts advertised?
All contracts for goods and services are advertised in the local press, usually the "Liverpool Echo" on Thursday, and also in "Contrax Weekly" magazine, which has national coverage. (Contrax Weekly is by subscription only - to subscribe to telephone 0141 331 2652). Contracts may also be advertised in relevant specialist trade journals.
All tender specifications for contracts to be let by the Procurement Support Unit can be viewed on the Liverpool City Council Internet site
Do you have a mailing list for suppliers interested in tendering?
Yes. The Procurement Support Unit maintains an extensive database of supplier details and these suppliers are notified of currently advertised contracts.
Potential suppliers who wish to have their details added to the database, should send a letter with brief details of the products and/or services they wish to offer to Liverpool City Council as well as their contact details to:
Resources, Procurement Support Unit, Municipal Building, Dale Street, Liverpool L2 2DH, or by e-mail at lyndsay.gordon@liverpool.gov.uk
Are there certain rules about the submission of tender documents?
Liverpool City Council tenders contain full instructions on completion and return of the documents.
The completed tender document must be:
- Returned in the envelope provided
- Received by the date and time stated in the document
- Received at the address shown on the envelope provided
- Your company must not be identifiable from the envelope (Do not use a company's personalised franking label).
Tenders received that fail to comply with these four rules will not be considered. These rules are designed to ensure that all bids are considered equally.
Tenderers should read and follow the instructions for completing the tender carefully. A contact name and telephone number appear on all tender documents and suppliers are encouraged to use this to ask any questions before submitting a bid.
