North Liverpool

Despite being seen for years as an area of great deprivation, North Liverpool does have its advantages.
The area has great potential. It is in a good position close to the docks and to the City Centre where many new offices, shops and apartments are being built. North Liverpool should be able to benefit from this commercial and residential development activity being so close.
There are major roads, bus and rail links through the area.
And it has two Premier League football teams.
There are promising signs of regeneration. Some of the schemes already complete include:
- The Centre for Construction and Engineering at Pumpfields;
- Urban Splash luxury apartments at the former Collegiate school;
- View 146, a revamp of two Everton tower blocks by the Legendary Property Company;
- The Hargreaves Centre on Great Homer Street - a new home for the NSPCC;
- Chapel Gardens - a development of new apartments for sale off Great Homer Street.
Meanwhile, some schemes are either under construction or will start imminently:
- Green Brow - a development of low energy homes on Everton Brow by Aldbury Quality Homes;
- Poet's Park, Great Homer Street - a development of town houses and apartments by Braidwater;
- Dorrington Gardens (Roscommon Street) - a development of 69 new houses by David Wilson Homes;
- Rosemount (Robson Street) - 131 new homes under construction by Haslam Homes;
- Tancred Park - an example of existing terraced homes being refurbished by the Affordable Housing Development Company;
- Wellington Business Park - a new business park off Derby Road and Sandhills Road.
Further proposals include:
- the redevelopment of the Central Docks area by Peel Holdings, to be known as "Liverpool Waters";
- the refurbishment and conversion of Stanley Dock by owners Kitgrove Ltd;
- a new football stadium for Liverpool Football Club; and
- new and improved housing through the Housing Market Renewal Initiative.
We are determined to tackle the problems in North Liverpool. We aim to bring back its vitality for the benefit of existing residents and to attract new residents. We can also offer specific help to new businesses to attract new jobs to the area through the Sefton/Liverpool Enterprise Growth Initiative.
This goal is shared by all the members of the North Liverpool Key Stakeholders Group. This group has members from public, private and community groups.
Through the North Liverpool Development Plan this group monitors all regeneration activity taking place in North Liverpool; and measures its impact against nine key targets. To read this plan and other useful information, use the links to the left.
