Urban Village (North)

The area of North Liverpool that sits just to the north of the City Centre, between the Leeds-Liverpool canal in the west to Everton Park in the east, and as far as Lambeth Road to the north, was named Urban Village back in 2001.
At that time, the North Liverpool Partnership and the City Council approved an early plan as the starting point for regeneration work in the area.
Experts and local people were asked what they thought, and a report was produced. It listed all regeneration projects which were underway at the time. It also suggested further new ideas which it was felt would help to improve the local economy and environment even more.
These proposals have evolved, and are now being built as part of the Housing Market Renewal Initiative and Project Jennifer.
However, the original report and the results of the consultation exercise can be seen here as an example of how major regeneration projects are begun.
