Speke Halewood is located in the south of the city. The area is served with good transport links via the M56, M62 and M6 motorways.
There are a number of international companies located here. Well-known names include Jaguar Cars, Getrag Ford, Eli Lilly and Liverpool John Lennon Airport (the fastest growing regional airport in Europe).
Since 1996, Speke Halewood has seen a major public-sector-led regeneration programme to improve the area. The 'boom' in this area has seen a wave of new inward investment. This confidence is key to maintaining the areas growth and sustainability.
Companies who have located here in recent years include:
- Marriott Hotels;
- HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland);
- Vertex;
- DHL International; and
- Chiron Vaccines.
Speke Halewood has many strengths, with the automotive, chemical and customer service sectors locating in the area. These have brought many production jobs over the years.
Within the past five years, the area has become Liverpool's premier out-of-town office and retail location. This has been boosted by the success of the New Mersey Retail Park, which has all the biggest high street names.
Liverpool Vision attracts inward investment and helps to build growth within the area. Flagship projects include Estuary Commerce Park, Liverpool International Business Park and Venture Point.
