Inspection
How is health and safety law enforced?
On finding a breach of health and safety law, the inspector will decide what action is best to take. The type of action will depend on the nature of the breach.
The inspector should provide employees or their representatives with information about any action to be taken. And they will then keep them up to date about issues affecting their health, safety and welfare.

What information will be provided to employees and their representatives?
An inspection in a normal visit will expect to check that those in charge, will consult and inform staff and their representatives.
The inspector will provide employees or their representatives with certain information where necessary. This is for the purpose of keeping them up to date about matters affecting their health, safety and welfare.
This information is further explained in the Health & Safety Commission leaflet: What to expect when a health & safety inspector calls?
This leaflet is intended for those in business who have duties under health and safety law.
