Responsible authorities

The council is responsible for licensing arrangements and we operate according to four licensing objectives:

  • The prevention of crime and disorder.
  • Public safety.
  • The prevention of public nuisance.
  • The protection of children from harm.

In addition to the council’s Licensing Unit, the responsible authorities are:

1. Merseyside Police Licensing Unit

5. Safeguarding Children Board

6. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service

Please note

A copy of your application for Grant or Variation of a premises licence or club premises certificate must be sent to all 8 of the responsible authorities listed above.

For gambling premises licences, you must send a notice of application to all the responsible authorities above. 

For alcohol, entertainment and late night refreshment premises licences, you must send a notice of application to the first six outlined above.
