You must register your hairdressing or barber business with the council. This regulation exists to secure the cleanliness of premises and equipment and to minimise the risk of transmission of infection.
Download, print, fill out and return a paper form.
Contact us if you would like a form posted out to you.
If you choose to register in the name of your business, all operators will be covered and a registered person may occasionally operate at another premise.
If you choose to register as an individual, only that person will be covered.
It will last for as long as your business operates within the area. However, you will need to re-register if a business moves or changes hands.
You must display a copy of the certificate of registration at your premises.
There is no charge for registration
Tacit consent applies. The legislation requires only that the city council process your application for you to be registered.
Appeal is not applicable as there is a strict legal duty to register.
A certificate of registration will be issued within 28 days of a valid application being received by Public Protection.
