Liverpool City Council - discrimination or harassment

Discrimination or harassment

Harassment is any form of unwanted or unwelcome behaviour.

It may range from mild unpleasant remarks to physical violence.

There are many forms of harassment:

  • Sexual harassment is unwanted behaviour that is linked to your gender or sexual orientation.
The EU says that sexual harassment is "unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, or other conduct based on sex, affecting the dignity of men and women at work".

  • Racial harassment is when behaviour is linked to the colour of your skin, your race or cultural background.
To find out more about race hate crime please visit Citysafe's hate crime pages.

  • Discrimination is when you are treated in a negative way because of your sex, race or disability.
This can often occur in all walks of life, particularly the work place.
