What we hope to achieve
Listed below are some of the things we hope to achieve to make things easier for people who work for Liverpool City Council to observe their religion and beliefs.
We will:
. Produce a policy statement on annual leave to observe religious holidays
. Publish dates of religious festivals on our website.
. Add training on religion to the induction training and to the equality and diversity training.
.Look at if there is a space available to provide a 'prayer room'.
. Raise awareness amongst managers, supervisors and staff of religions.
. Provide refreshments and food that cater for everyone (for example Halal and Kosher food) at Council events and training groups.
. Raise staff awareness of the need to look at having social events which do not involve alcohol.
. Provide a number of choices of uniforms so that staff can dress in accordance with our requirements and with regard to their religion.
. Raise awareness of the different requirements of religions when planning training events and job interviews and so on in relation to the time of year and day.
