Liverpool City Council - Schools Councils

Schools' Councils - the benefits

Schools Parliament Logo

All children and young people, should have the chance to play an active role at their school.

A school or pupil council is a great way of doing this.

An elected group of children and young people, can be involved in many different areas of school life.

They can help improve behaviour and reduce bullying.

Confident members can also provide support and mentoring to their peers.

Council's can support their schools codes of conduct and behaviour programmes.

Members can be involved in decision-making, in many areas of school life.

An active school council can help develop links with governors, parents and local community groups.

In Liverpool there has been a 'real' interest taken in the development of schools' councils.

Council members, believe they give children and young people a 'voice'.
