Liverpool Youth Council

The Liverpool Youth Council is made up of young people aged 13-19, who have been elected by their peers for a term of two years.  The Youth Council aims to have 6 representatives from each neighbourhood area.

Members of the Youth Council are elected from each YAG (Youth Advisory Group).

The youth council aim to:

  • Help young people across the city
  • let young people's voices be heard
  • represent young people from their areas
  • raise young people's views and issues
  • advise other young people
  • manage the participation Fund.      

The five current issues of the youth council are: police attitudes, racism, drugs and alcohol, peer pressure and young people's voices.

The Youth Council aims to have two residentials a year, during the last residential Youth Councillors took part in team building, training and how to deal with Youth Opportunity Fund applications.

The Youth Council also has representatives from different sub groups/projects these are:

LAC - Looked after Children
DAC - Disability Advisory Council
LGBT - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and TransGender
YOS - Youth Offending Service
