Liverpool City Council - civic funerals

Civil funerals

The majority of people in the UK still choose a 'traditional' religious funeral service.  However an increasing number are finding that a Civil Funeral Ceremony is a more appropriate choice for them.

What is a Civil Funeral Ceremony?
A Civil Funeral Ceremony is a ceremony reflecting the wishes of the family and of the deceased person. It is appropriate for a cremation or for a burial at a non-religious burial ground.

Who will conduct the ceremony?
The person conducting the ceremony will be a trained professional Celebrant.  The celebrant may also be, or have been, a Registrar.
