Getting married

For additional information the central government website www.direct.gov.uk offers general information on marriage and cohabitation in the rights and responsibilities section if its site.

Where can I get married?
Marriages take place in the City of Liverpool between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. 7 days a week.  The times and days are subject to the agreement of the person conducting the ceremony.

A marriage can take place:

  • At the Liverpool Register Office
  • At an Approved Venue (i.e. a non-religious building or venue which has been licensed by the Local Authority for civil marriages)
  • At a church belonging to the Church of England
  • At any other religious building
