MPs
MP stands for Member of Parliament. An MP is an elected representative of a particular constituency. Britain is divided up into 659 constituencies (or areas), and each has roughly the same number of voters.
One MP represents each constituency and is elected by the voters of that constituency.
The role of the MP is to represent the interests of all the people of their constituency in the House of Commons in London.

MEPs
MEP stands for Member of the European Parliament. An MEP is an elected representative of a particular region.
The European Parliament has 626 MEPs who are elected in the fifteen member states of the European Union (one of which is the UK) for a five year term.
There are 87 MEPs in the UK, split across 12 regions. Each region has between 3 and 11 MEPs, and each MEP in a region represents each person living there.
The role of the MEP is to represent the interests of the people in their region at the European Parliament.
There are 9 MEPs in the North West region, all of whom represent the interests of Liverpool people.
