Liverpool City Council - Beacon council

Social Inclusion Through ICT

The City of Liverpool has recently won Beacon Council Status for Social Inclusion through ICT.

A number of initiatives have helped us win this award such as our 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year call centre and our community one stop shops.

This is the second year that the City Council has won this Beacon Council Status "the highest recognition for quality in public services"

The City of Liverpool is at the leading edge of new and innovative projects that enable customers to contact us easily and receive professional advice and assistance.

Liverpool has a vision of becoming Europe's most citizen and business friendly city and becoming as well known for electronic service delivery as we were for our seaport in the early 20th century (this is our "seaport to e-port" strategy).

Through everyone's hardwork this vision, although very challenging, is being - and will continue to be - delivered.  This is why winning the award for Social Inclusion through ICT is very important to us.

Local Government Minister, Nick Raynsford, has praised the city council for winning the award, "The authority's achievement is a real example of how a good service can make a real difference to people's lives.

" Liverpool City Council's Beacon award marks the authority's achievement and recognises the hard work of the staff at the frontline of delivering services.

"But just as importantly the City Council will now help other authorities learn from its experience so that other authorities from across the country might provide services that meet the standards of the best."
