Start date: 10 February 2008

End date: 31 March 2008

Purpose of the exercise:

To consult with service users about the new homelessness strategy and the prevention and assessment service review

Who was consulted and how:

Users of homelessness services were consulted via focus groups and one-to-one interviews

Who were the results of the exercise reported to:

The results were reported to the executive board.

What are the findings of the exercise:

Generally, the views of the service users reflected those of other stakeholders - that is that people generally saw the reasons and sensibleness of both the housing strategy's objectives and the service review proposals. Service users also said that they wanted some sort of on-going involvement in the strategy's development.

What are the changes to the service brought about as a result of the consultation:

Both the homelessness strategy and the service review will be implemented as planned. We will also continue to look at ongoing service user involvement in the strategy's development.
