Purpose of the exercise:

To consult with residents about the introduction of a housing benefit eligible service charge. This charge will enable the service to be funded on a financially sustainable basis in the future following the completion of stock transfer in April

Who wasconsulted and how:

Residents of homeless hostels and councillors were consulted via letter and residents' meetings

Who were the results of the exercise reported to:

The results were reported to the executive members for:

  • Neighbourhoods and Housing - Cllr. Marilyn Fielding
  • Health and Adult Services - Cllr. Dave Antrobus 

And a report was sent to the executive board's meeting on 28 March 2008

What were the findings of the exercise:

No adverse comments were received from those who were consulted

What are the changes to the service brought about as a result of the consultation:

Pending the sending of a statutory 28-day notice, the housing benefit eligible charge will be introduced in each of the homeless hostels by the end of May 2008
