Purpose of the exercise:
This exercise was carried out to obtain views on the principles and proposals contained in the Liverpool city region prospectus. This document details the key challenges, assets and opportunities, from which the Greater Merseyside authorities will deliver upon a shared vision for accelerated economic growth.
Who was consulted and how:
A copy of the Liverpool city region prospectus, along with a letter requesting their views, was sent to:
- the leaders and chief executives of the Greater Merseyside councils
- regeneration directors
- chief executives of Warrington, Chester, Cheshire and Deeside authorities
- local members of parliament
- the North West Development Agency
- Government Office North West
- the Learning and Skills Council
- the chief executives of the core city councils
- key public partner agencies
- the Chambers of Commerce
- private sector partners

The results were reported to the:
- council's executive board
- Merseyside Leaders and Chief Executive's meeting
What were the findings of the exercise:
Full agreement has been given to the principles of the proposed changes in governance stated within the prospectus.
The changes to the service brought about as a result of the consultation:
Following the agreement in principle to the way forward, further work is being undertaken to:
- develop the business forum
- integrate Halton Borough Council into the city region
- identify the issues the new cabinet will determine, including the development of strategic boards.
