Purpose of the exercise:

The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills carried out a consultation on the role of informal learning - the findings of this exercise were used to supply Liverpool City Council's response to this consultation.

Who was consulted and how:

Existing and new learners and the council's learning partners were consulted via a questionnaire.

Who were the results of the exercise reported to:

The results were reported to the assistant executive director Adult Care and Learning Services and the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).

What were the findings of the exercise:

This consultation was on strategic issues and, as such, no substantial findings were received from learners. The councilm, along with our learning partners sent a response on the consultation to DIUS.

What are the changes to the service brought about as a results of the exercise:

Currently there are no changes to the service. However, we are waiting for a response from DIUS once they have collated all of the information they received for their consultation. Their response will likely affect longer term strategies on the funding of adult learning.
