Performance indicators
There are a number of different types of performance indicators (PIs):
- national indicators (NIs), which are set by the government to ensure standards are met across a range of services. We can use these indicators to compare our performance with that of other councils (see the 'performance reporting' page for more information)
- local public service agreement (LPSA) indicators - these are measures that we have agreed with the government
- local indicators - these are indicators that have been created to measure local priorities that aren't covered by the indicators above.
We also have different groupings of PIs that we use to measure progress:
- corporate aims and priorities PIs
- these are PIs that we use to measure our progress against our aims - Liverpool area agreement (LAA) - the LAA has four blocks, with each having a set of PIs. We are also measuring some of our LAA PIs on an equality basis, using these categories.
- neighbourhood agreement PIs - these are PIs that are measured at a district level and form part of our neighbourhood agreements.
Our performance management database holds all our performance indicator data. This includes:
- the PI type, reference number and definition
- the name of the service manager responsible for the performance of the PI
- the reporting period and frequency of reporting data and/or commentary on performance
- targets for 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
- historical data where its available
- commentary on performance.
See the 'performance reporting' page for information on how we report on performance.
