Appendix 2 - performance in 2005/06 against national indicators (with targets through to 2008/09)
This page sets out our key performance indicators (KPIs) for the past three years and our targets for the next three years (up to 2008/09). We have listed them under the aims of council in operation in May 2005. Use the links below to see our progress.

Note: We monitor performance over the financial year, which is from 1st April to 31st March. We indicate on the individual performance indicator if this isn't the case.
Aim 1: top quality, value for money services, while keeping the council tax as low as possible
Aim 2: a business friendly city with accessible, responsive and integrated business services, which encourage inward investment, growth and jobs, with a healthy not-for-profit business sector
Aim 3: well-services, safe and sustainable neighbourhoods, with optimum local accountability and influence over service management, includes performance indicators on:
- Reducing crime and the fear of crime
- Housing management
- Improving the quality of life and independence of older people
- Supporting people
- Education, libraries and sports services
- Improving life-chances for young people and children in need
- Environmental services
- Creating sustainable communities
- Improving road safety
- Regenerating neighbourhoods
- Environmental health and trading standards
