Liverpool City Council - Leading liverpool

Leading Liverpool

Liverpool's transformation - from a 'has been' to a 'happening' city -  accelerates this year, with the opening of the new waterfront arena, the launch of 'Liverpool One' - the largest retail development in Europe, the start of a £300m investment programme in public housing - and the  visitor numbers and media attention generated by our Capital of Culture events.

But, high and persistent deprivation (with 60% of our wards in the worst 10% nationally) and the weaknesses high-lighted in the council's recent corporate assessment, convey the clear message that to deliver better outcomes for our residents, the council  must strengthen its community, corporate and service leadership.

Enhanced leadership, at all levels, is necessary to create the correct culture and to ensure we have the right people, systems and process in place to drive performance and improve the quality of life for residents.

Take a look at the strengthening leadership diagram.
