Overview and Scrutiny select committee

This select committee is made up of eleven elected members.

This committee is responsible for:

  • monitoring the progress on earlier corporate assessment recommendations - as taken forward via the strategic innovation and improvement pan

  • reviewing progress on the council's corporate plan and the targets set out in the Liverpool's area agreement (LAA)

  • reviewing the operation of the select committees, to improve the quality and challenge of scrutiny and the development of cross-cutting themes between select committees

  • advising the select committees on the appropriate arrangements for scrutinising and monitoring the operation of external organisations and partnerships and ensure that this is included in the work programmes for the relevant select committees

  • reviewing the council and partners preparation for the new comprehensive area assessment

  • approving a scrutiny training programme for members of select committees

  • reviewing entries in the forward plan

  • receiving results from the annual survey of members' satisfaction with scrutiny and to make subsequent recommendations to select committees

  • receiving performance management progress reports from select committee chairs
