Local council
In Liverpool City Council there are currently 4 parties represented as follows:
- Liberal Democrats (LD) has 46 seats - the majority party
- Labour (LAB) has 39 seats - the main opposition
- Liberal (LIB) has 3 seats
- Greens (GR) has 2 seats

National government
There are currently nine political parties with representation in the House of Commons, and 3 MPs who are Independents.

The Labour Party with 407 MPs
The Conservative Party with 163 MPs
The Liberal Democrat Party with 55 MPs.
The other six parties are Scottish National Party, Plaid Cymru, Democratic Unionist Party, Ulster Unionist Party, Sinn Fein, and Social Democratic and Labour Party.
