Ethnic Minorities Employability Team

The EMEP team work closely with Liverpool JET Services to deliver a comprehensive education, training and employment service to Liverpool's Black and Minorithy Ethnic (BME) communities. The team will help and support BME residents with job search skills such as finding vacancies make job applications, produce CVs, prepare for interviews.

Other available services will include:

  • Employment advice and careers guidance
  • Short and long term action planning
  • Access to various vacancy websites
  • Matching skills to local and national jobs
  • Signposting to available support funding
  • Help to convert qualifications to the UK system through UK NARIC
  • Signposting to further and higher education courses
  • Voluntary and work experience placements.

English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL)

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are offered many venues across the city.

Before joining you need to attend one of our assessment sessions. You can discuss your learning needs and find out which course will be most suitable.

You can combine ESOL with other related Family Learning programmes, including:

  • The Learning in the Family Environment (LIFE) programme, which includes courses on Family Literacy and Family Numeracy. 
  • The Billingual Family Learning Programme, which provides ESOL Family Learning courses from pre-entry through to level 1 and 2.  The programme also links with classes offered in a variety of subjects, including ICT, Sewing, Cookery, Gardening, Crafts and 'Enjoy Liverpool' a course which involves visits to places of family interest.
