Liverpool Neighbourhood Learning Champions Project 2009/10
Liverpool City Council's Adult Learning Service (ALS) is commissioning this project on behalf of Liverpool First, through an Area Based Grant (ABG). We are now seeking applications for this Project.
Purpose and aims
The purpose of the Area Based Grant is to support economic growth, employment and skills development for local people across Liverpool.
The Project aims to recruit and train local people to become Neighbourhood Learning Champions who will promote adult learning, recruit new learners and identify learner needs to influence neighbourhood-based learning provision across the city.
Eligibility for funding
Applications are encouraged from voluntary and community learning providers. Public Sector Adult Learning Providers may also apply. Bidding organisations must have a track record of effective delivery of adult learning programmes in disadvantaged areas. The Project will be targeted upon residents aged sixteen or over from the most deprived areas of Liverpool.
Size and scope of project
A total of £440,000 is available for the first phase of the Project, which will run from August 2009 to 31st July 2010. The £440,000 will be available for five projects, one in each of Liverpool's five Neighbourhood Management Areas. This will cover the costs of recruiting and training Learning Champions and assisting them to recruit between them new learners into adult/further learning, voluntary and community work.
Organisations will receive funding for one year in the first instance. Funding may be available for a further six months, depending on satisfactory achievement of 2009/10 targets.
