Services at Anfield Children's Centre
Anfield Sure Start Children's Centre brings together a wide range of services for children from birth to 5 years old, their families, pregnant women and their partners. The centre is a one-stop shop bringing a range of services together within the community, including health, family support, day-care, support for children with special education needs and ante-natal services for parents and carers. These services are for everyone within the Anfield Ward and beyond.
We hope to make it easier for parents to obtain the range of services they need for themselves and their families in the early years of their children's lives. you can use Anfield Children's Centre, or any Children's Centre in Liverpool that os more convenient or easier for you to access. Just register at any centre and you can access all the services. All services are free, except for the daycare, but help for this can be gained through the Working Families Tax Credits, further information on Working Tax Credits can be obtained through your local Children's Centre.
Education and Childcare
Anfield Children's centre has it's own Nursery on site. The nursery provides high quality education with daycare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. The nursery is open Monday-Friday from 8.00am - 6.00pm, 50 weeks per year and has a baby area (children 0-2 years) toddler area (children 2-3 years) and pre-school area (children 3-4 years).
All staff are qualified and experienced in delivering quality childcare and work within the new Early Years Foundation Stage for children from Birth to 5 years old. The nursery offers a safe, secure stimulating environment that is welcoming and child centered. We offer all children opportunities to learn through play, new experiences and challenging activities. Children's assessments and records of their progress are completed in consultation with parents and carers.
The setting actively promoted equality and inclusion and there is continuous support for children with special educational needs. Our admission policy covers a wide criteria including purchased and funded places. Full and part time places are available to meet the childcare needs of families.
If your child is aged 3 or 4 years old then you are entitled to receive free childcare sessions, until your child reaches statutory school age. This equates to five two-and-a-half hour sessions per week. Child and Family Health Services
Anfield Children's Centre offers a range of services for Child and Family Health including Midwives, Ante-natal (Evening Parent craft sessions), Post Natal Clinics, Health Visitor Drop in, healthy eating, nutrition and baby massage. We are also able to support anyone who wishes to stop smoking. For details of the dates and times of the services that we offer, please contact the centre and ask for Karen.
Family Support and Community Outreach
The centre offers support via its outreach link workers. We have four outreach workers covering family support, SEN/Disability and Childminding, we also work in partnership with Liverpool City Council and would like to work in partnership with children their parents and carers. It is an aim of our centre to visit families of all new births within the area.
The following services are currently available at the centre:

Stay and Play (Thursday's) 1.30pm - 3.00pm, this activity is an interactive play service delivered by Karen for parents, carers and their children.

Play, Learn and Lend (Friday's) 9.30am - 11.00am, this activity provides an opportunity for parents and children to play together, learn how toys will help your child develop and new fun ways to play. You can also then book to hire toys from our Toy Library.

Jingle Jangle (Monday's) 1.30pm - 3.00pm, Join Sharon at Breck Road Library for songs, stories and themed craft activities.

Coffee Break (Wednesday's) 11.00am - 12.00pm, coffee break is available after baby massage or you can just drop in to our centre and have a cuppa with Sharon and Karen, a great opportunity to meet other parents.
- Birth and Beyond (Wednesday 6pm-8pm) Join our local Midwife for parent craft classes. Ring Nicola or Karen to book a place.

Playtime Toy Library Monday 10.30am till 11.30am. Come for a fun filled hour playing and learning, at Breck Road library. Contact Alix for more details.

Song and Rhymetime Toy Library (Tuesday every other week 10am till 11.30am) Join us for songs, rhymes and fun and games at Hope Valley Primary Parents Centre. Contact Sharon or Alix for more details.

Sensory Storytime Wednesday 10am till 11am each week. stories and tales in our relaxing Sensory room. a chance to chill out with your child. Contact Alix for more details.

"Why Do kids do that?"(Tuesday 1.30pm-3.00pm) get support and learn how to manage negative behaviour at Hope Valley Primary School Parents Centre. To book yourself a place please call Nicola or Karen.

Stress Busters (Thursday's) 9.30am till 11.30am, why not come along and join in our craft sessions at Hope Valley Primary School in a relaxed environment and exchange ideas about managing stress with other parents and carers. For more details contact Nicola at the centre.
- Dads Club (every other Saturday) 10.00am - 12.00pm, come along and meet John at Anfield Sports and Community Centre for a chance to get active with your children and meet other Dads or join our Dads football team. for more information contact Nicola at the centre.

Job Centre Plus
Are you interested in work or training but you're worried about childcare or how it might affect your income? At Anfield Children's Centre we liaise closely with New Deal Personal Advisor's, they are on site every 2nd Tuesday from 9.30am - 11.00am, along with other training providers and will be able to offer you advice, help and support on: Finding a job: Looking for childcare: Identifying training opportunities: Understanding what financial help you may be entitled to. We can also offer advice and support on how to complete an application form and how to write a C.V. for more information contact Alix at the centre.
Liverpool Childcare and Family Information Service (CAFIS)
Liverpool Childrcare and Family Information Service provides free information on registered childcare provision within the area. CAFIS is also working in partnership with Job Centre Plus to support people who want to go back into work or training. A new programme of support includes childcare chats to explain the different options of childcare available to you and childcare tasters, which provide up to five free taster sessions of childcare. This service is available to parents who are eligible for New Deal for Lone Parents, New Deal for Partners and Employment Zone Recruitment Services.
Childminder Network
A childminder network runs from within Anfield Children's Centre.
this is a group of OFSTED registered childminders managed by a designated co-ordinator called Alix Bedford, this group meet together regularly for support and training at the centre.
Childminders are professional people who provide good quality home based childcare which meets the needs of the local community. Childminders who are members of the network have to complete a National Childminding Association Quality Assurance Award for Professional Standards. the childminder support group holds their drop in sessions at the children's centre every Thursday morning between 9.30am-11.00am to enable their minded children to have experience of group activities.
After the drop in session there is a half hour Toy Library session specifically for childminders from across the city to be able to hire toys.
