Liverpool City Council - Appeals

Pupil Admission Appeals

Choosing a school for your child can be a very difficult decision. Although there has never been a 'free choice' of school, you do have a legal right to express a preference and to give your reasons why you want your child to attend a particular school.

Most children are able to attend their parents' first preference school, unfortunately this is not possible for all children. In some cases, the preferred schools are full and extra pupils in a particular class would affect the overall quality of education received by all pupils at the school.

School Admission Appeals - a guide for parents (PDF [142.2Kb] opens in new window) is a step-by-step guide to appealing against the decision not to offer your child a place in your preferred school. This guide applies to community and controlled schools and The North Liverpool Academy.

The Academy of St Francis of Assisi, The Belvedere Academy, voluntary aided and foundation schools have separate appeals procedures. You should contact the individual school for more information about their appeal procedure.

You can download the Notice of Appeals form (PDF [40.9Kb] opens in new window) here but you must read the step-by-step guide above before filling it in, and post any supporting documents in the same envelope to: Liverpool Children's Services, Pupil Admissions Team, Municipal Buildings, Dale Street, Liverpool, L2 2DH.

Once your appeal has been sent in, Committee Services or Liverpool Direct Ltd will answer any queries you might have and provide any relevant information.
