Liverpool City Council - Admissions consultation

Consultation on Admission Arrangements for Liverpool Schools for September 2011

These pages provide a quick and effective way for Liverpool schools to consult on their proposed admission arrangements for September 2011. Academies, trust / foundation and voluntary aided schools can use these pages to consult but are not obliged to do so. If a particular school policy is not available on the relevant page please contact the school directly.

Comments on the proposed admission arrangements for the academic year 2011/12 for Liverpool schools are invited from schools, admitting authorities, church authorities, parents and community groups.

The admitting authority for community and controlled Church of England schools is Liverpool City Council.

For academies, trust / foundation and voluntary aided schools the admitting authority is the governing body.

All schools and academies have to consult on their proposed admission arrangements.

The timetable for the consultation is as follows:

  • 1st November 2009: Consultation period begins.  Schools and academies must consult for a minimum of eight weeks between this date and 1st March 2010.

  • 1st March 2010: Consultation period finishes.

  • 15th April 2010: Date by which admitting authorities determine the admission arrangements

  • 1st May 2010:  Liverpool City Council place an advertisement in the local press stating which schools have consulted.

The School Admissions Code (PDF [533.6Kb] opens in new window), published in February 2009, requires all admitting authorities to consult on their admission arrangements for September 2010.  Provided they consulted for September 2010, admitting authorities need only consult every three years unless the admission arrangements are different from the previous consultation. Therefore, for academies, trust / foundation and voluntary aided schools who have not changed their admission arrangements the 2010 policy will be available on these pages.

Using the navigation buttons on the left of the screen you can access the current and previous consultation for Liverpool Primary and Secondary Schools.

  • If you have any comments about the admission arrangements for the academies, voluntary aided or foundation schools you should make these in writing or by e-mail directly to the school or academy by 1st March 2010.
  • If you have any comments about the admission arrangements for community or controlled Church of England schools please e-mail them to peter.jones@liverpool.gov.uk  by 1st March 2010.
