Special Educational Needs Forum
Do you or does your group.
- Work with children with Special Educational Needs?
- Work with parents of children with SEN?
- Understand the SEN and Disability Act?
- Want to have a voice in consultation and change?
If the answer to any of these questions is YES then read on....
Why should you join the Forum?
If you would like to meet with other groups or organisations come along. You don't have to come alone bring a parent or another colleague with you.
- Get your voice heard.
- Get your families voices heard.
- Be part of the consultation around any changes to children's education.
If you don't take part in consultation, if you don't represent your members' views, you can't complain when changes are made that you would have done differently.
Who are the members?
Each member of the Forum is a representative of a support group, a parents' group, voluntary organisation or a statutory organisation that has an interest in SEN. Each group may send two representatives.
We came together about 14 years ago to talk about and become involved in educational issues in Liverpool, and the local and national legislation around education.
Presently there are about sixty people on our mailing list enabling us to have a cross section of groups attending the meetings.
The Local Authority has a representative who comes and feeds back to the Forum meetings on current issues and initiatives.
Each month we invite a different speaker to come and tell us about their services; which keeps us up to date on any new services, issues, strategies or legislation.
When does it meet?
The SEN Forum meets every month on alternate Mondays and Fridays, with an evening meeting once every three months.
All of the Forum meeting are held in accessible venues.
If you have any additional requirements we will do our best to accommodate them.
You will be made to feel very welcome.
