Liverpool City Council - ADHD

The Attention Deficit Hypercactivity Disorder (ADHD) Foundation

The Foundation works with children and young people who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It helps them to recognise their abilities and build a positive foundation for life. We work with families and partner agencies in the design and delivery of our services.

Children with ADHD and their families often feel isolated and blamed. The Foundation offers a unique opportunity for parents, children and agencies to learn together to understand and manage this disorder. With the right support children can overcome the difficulties that can lead to school exclusion and anti social behaviour.

Parents tell us they need the Foundation to help them, and the agencies they deal with, to gain control of their lives and build positive futures. Happy and successful children are more likely to have a higher sense of self worth and believe they can succeed. This results in social and emotional well being.

Learning about ADHD is an evolving process rather than a technique or formula. Meeting the challenges and finding solutions that work needs collaboration and respect between everyone involved in the child's life. By working together we can aim for constant improvements in the quality of life for children and their families.
