Liverpool City Council - special educational needs

Special Educational Needs and Disability Service

Children have special educational needs (SEN) if they have difficulties in one or more of the following areas:

  • Learning.
  • Communication.
  • Behaviour.
  • Hearing.
  • Visual.
  • Physical ability.

Liverpool is committed to including as many SEN children, as possible, in mainstream education.

Most  SEN children attend their local school and are educated with other children of the same age.

Our aim is to create inclusive schools so that all children and young people can be educated in their local school.

We are working to improve progress and achievement by our pupils and young people with SEN and Disabilities.

Please go to the appropriate pages if  you want to know more about SEN at school and about Statutory Assessment of SEN . Another link which provides useful information is: http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/sen/
