Transfer and Transition
Transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3
Perhaps the most difficult educational transition a pupil can make is the move from primary to secondary school. It is a time of great uncertainty and we aim to make sure that the process is well managed and thought through.
The information we provide within these pages is designed to help those who are involved in the move from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3. These are:
- The school (primary and secondary).
- The pupils.
- Parents.
Liverpool has a wealth of organisations which can aid the transition process and many of these are featured here.
There is an active group of people representing these organisations. You can find more information by visiting our Working Party pages.
Secondary National Strategy (Transfer and Transition)
The 3 main areas/priorities for The Secondary National Strategy for transition in Liverpool are:
- To promote a self assessment toolkit in schools based on the DfES model and CD Rom and to create links with School Development Plans.
- To continue to strengthen links with outside agencies and promote a joined up approach to Transition and Transfer across Liverpool.
- To evaluate Learning Network pilot studies and implement successful pilots across other Schools and Learning Networks.
We are fortunate in Liverpool to have a Secondary Strategy Consultant assigned specifically for Transfer and Transition.
Donna Stretton has a background in consultancy since 2000 covering Primary, Secondary and Special Schools. Feel free to contact her via email donna.stretton@liverpool.gov.uk.
