Make a food complaint
The Food Safety Unit investigates complaints about food bought or manufactured in Liverpool.
We may be able to arrange for the food complaint to be picked up if you are unable to do so. When you hand over the complaint to the officer you will be asked to sign a complaint form. The officer will explain what will happen during the investigation.
Release of your name and address
You may remain anonymous and choose not to have your name and address released or to be a witness in further legal action. The officer may take informal action. However, we cannot take formal action without this information.
Compensation
We cannot act on your behalf to get compensation for you. You may take private action and seek independent advice. Our first priority is public health.
Laboratory reports
We have to pay a fee for examination. If you require a copy of the report, a standard fee plus VAT is charged for copies of the officer's report and for the examiners report.
Keeping you informed
The officer will discuss the findings with you, as the complainant, and advise you if further legal action will be taken.
