Training FAQ
What training do I need? Can the Food Safety Unit help me access it?
If you run a business that involves preparing, serving, or otherwise handling food, all staff must have training appropriate to their work activity. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) basic food hygiene certificate covers the minimum level of training in most cases. The manager must also have appropriate training, such as the CIEH intermediate or advanced certificate. The main local provider of training is the Liverpool John Moores University: contact on 0151 231 5327.
For further advise on food safety telephone Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3001, or e-mail on liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk addressing it to the Food Safety Unit.
