Can I meet a planning officer to discuss a general planning issue?
For general enquiries, a Duty Planning Officer is available in Millennium House Reception from 8.30 to 4.45 Monday to Thursday and 8.30 to 4.15 on Friday.
If you wish to meet a particular Planning Officer to discuss a specific planning application, you need to call Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3021 or email them at liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk to request an appointment.
You will then receive a call back from the relevant planning Officer to arrange an appointment.
Can I speak to a planning officer by telephone?
Ring Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3021 or email them at liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk to request a call back from a Planning Officer.
Can pre application advice be given over the phone?
No, you will need to write to Planning and Building Control, Municipal Buildings, Dale Street, Liverpool, L2 2DH with all the details of your proposal including measurements and a Planning Officer will contact you to arrange an appointment for a pre-application meeting.
Do I have to pay for a planning application if I am disabled?
If the work is to provide access and facilities for disabled persons in dwellings and buildings to which the public have access then fees are exempt.
Do I need an appointment to view plans or can I just turn up at Millennium House?
Only plans for current planning applications where a decision has not yet been made are available to view during normal opening hours at Millennium House reception, no appointment is necessary.
An appointment must be made by telephone to Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3021 or by email at liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk to view plans on applications where a decision has been made.
How do I obtain advice on how to complete applications?
Guidance notes are provided with the application form or on the City Council's website www.liverpool.gov.uk.

How do I check status of a planning application?
Information relating to planning applications can be obtained by contacting Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3021or liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk or via the Planning Explorer on Liverpool City Council's website.
Do I need planning permission?
You can either look on the Planning Wizard on the City Council's website OR write to Planning and Building Control, Municipal Buildings, Dale Street Liverpool, L69 2DH and in your letter you must include:
- your name and address
- location of proposal
- brief details including dimensions m³ (meters squared x 3)
- site plan
