Liverpool City Council - statement of community involvment

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

SCI Timeline

Current production stage:       8 - Adoption

The community needs to take part in plan-making for local ownership and to help with the policies that will shape the future of land uses and development in Liverpool.

The SCI sets out how the City Council involves people in planning policies and on planning applications.  It includes details about who will be involved and consulted with, how this will be done and when.

Following an initial survey in June and July 2005, the City Council prepared a Draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), which was consulted upon during January and February 2006.  All comments received in the consultation exercise were taken into account and a Submission version of the SCI (PDF [2.1Mb] opens in new window) was prepared and sent to the Secretary of State in October 2006.

A public consultation exercise was carried out on the Submission document between October and December 2006.  A copy of the responses to the Submission document consultation can be viewed here - SCI Oct-Dec 2006 Consultation Responses (PDF [89.2Kb] opens in new window).

The Secretary of State's Planning Inspector (David Robins) then considered the document and the comments made about it.  On the 10th May 2007, he then issued an Inspectors Report (PDF [77Kb] opens in new window) which states that the Statement of Community Involvement is "sound" subject to 20 alterations.

The final version of the SCI (PDF [367.3Kb] opens in new window) was adopted by the City Council on 18th July 2007.
