Liverpool City Council has designated two air quality management areas, in the city centre and at the Rocket junction where the M62 meets Queens Drive.  Air quality in these areas needs to improve. The biggest cause of poor air quality is vehicle exhaust emissions and improving air quality benefits everyone.  Motorists will benefit not only from better air quality but also from reduced running costs - a properly tuned engine will save you money every time you fill-up

The City Council's Environmental Health & Trading Standards Service, in partnership with Merseyside Police and Transport Research Laboratories will be testing vehicles in Liverpool to improve air quality by ensuring pollutants emitted from vehicle engines are kept to a minimum.

An information leaflet about the 'Tune Up To Clean Up' (PDF [48.6Kb] opens in new window) campaign is available.
