Local transport plan
The Local Transport Plan for Merseyside was submitted by the Merseyside Partners in July 2000 and consisted of a 10 year strategy and a 5 year plan for delivering integrated transport solutions to address social, economic and environmental issues across Merseyside.
The Merseyside Partners are:
- Merseytravel
- Liverpool City Council
- Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council
- Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council
- St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council
- Metropolitan Borough of Wirral Council
The LTP sets four core objectives for supporting the inclusive sustainable regeneration of Merseyside:
- Objective One
To ensure that transport supports sustainable economic development and regeneration. - Objective Two
To moderate the upward trend in car use and secure a shift to more sustainable forms of transport such as walking, cycling and public transport. - Objective Three
To secure the most efficient and effective use of the existing transport network. - Objective Four
To enhance the quality of life of those living or working in, or visiting Merseyside.
The Merseyside Local Transport Plan website gives further information, including access to LTP Reports.
