Respect enforcement

Background:

Following complaints from residents regarding the littering outside and on the approach to both Stadia it was decided that both clubs and other partners should be approached with a view to addressing the problem as part of that which is required from the Corporate Enforcement Forum.

In October 2005 the Enforcement Review approved by the Executive Board, and the new Corporate Enforcement Forum was founded. Its brief was to produce a Corporate Enforcement Plan covering all Neighbourhoods and enforcement activities, linking to the education and promotion activities undertaken by the Environmental Education Co-ordinator and Community Safety Reassurance Programme.

The Enforcement plan was approved August 2006.

Project objectives:

The brief was to provide a lasting improvement in the liveability of residents in the vicinity of both grounds by means of an integrated educational and promotions programme aligned to a zero tolerance approach to littering, particularly that caused by leaflet distribution on the approach to and outside the grounds.

The project will be ongoing from 3rd. February 2007 until the season end in May/June 2007.

Project scope:

  • Identifying City Council Officers and other Partners involved in educational activities.
  • Set up regular meetings with those Officers and formulate a policy of joined up working in order to improve the liveability of customers within a half mile radius of both Stadia
  • Share information, knowledge and best practise.
  • There is also potential for this initiative being rolled out nationally which could result in our recouping some costs.

Outline project deliverables and / or desired outcomes:

  • Deliver a high profile educational, promotions and marketing effort which will promote and publicise and act upon the enforcement activities with regard to littering
  • Report on educational enforcement activity to the Corporate Enforcement Forum
  • Identify potential funding opportunities available for enforcement education
  • To improve the liveability of residents in close proximity to the grounds particularly with regard to littering
