Liverpool City Council - Get involved in community decisions

Get involved in community decisions

Residents getting involved in local community decisions

We want to encourage residents to get involved in the decisions which the Council makes about their communities.  One of the ways you can do this is to come along to your local District Committee Meetings.  There are five district committees which match the five Neighbourhood Management Areas.

Meetings are held at various intervals throughout the year.  At these meetings, you will be able to come along as a member of the public to listen to and take part in debates about issues affecting you and the area which you live in.  Your local councillors attend these meetings, so you will have a chance to see them in action and - if necessary - question why and how decisions are taken.

Raise issues......speak to your local councillors

During the public question and answer session, you can also raise issues which are not on the agenda of the meeting - which the panel will try to answer for you. If not, they can arrange for an answer to be found and sent to you following the meeting.

District Committee meetings are one of the key ways for you to get involved in your local community and how we deliver our services to you.

When and where?

To find out more about your local Distrct Committee, please click on the relevant link below which will take you to another area of this website.  You will find agendas and minutes of previous meetings for your area, and dates and agendas for future meetings which you can attend.

There are 5 District Committees, which match the 5 Neighbourhood management Areas.

A list of the committee chairs can be found here.

The District Committee is the 'decision making' element of the Neighbourhood governance arrangements.  Supported by the themed Neighbourhood Partnership Working Groups, which the District Committee will appoint, the District Committee has five distinct roles which are -

  • Improving service delivery

  • Contributing to and developing citywide and local plans

  • Managing performance

  • Funding - agreeing allocations

  • Community engagement

  • Improving planning

  • District Committees will meet 3 times a year and the meetings are open to the public.

Other meetings which might affect you and your community

There are other committee meetings which might affect you, your community, and the services which you receive from us as a Council.

As with the above, you can read previous minutes of those meetings, and - in most cases - attend future meetings.
