Finding a home

Help with Accommodation for Adults with Learning Disabilities

Our aim is to help you live as independently as possible. We may help you live in your own home with support such as managing finances or cooking, or we may offer alternative living arrangements, brief details are listed below.

Small Shared Homes.
Usually involves a small group of people sharing a home Some of these houses are registered as small residential homes and some are arranged on the basis of individuals having a tenancy

Residential Care
There are a number of small or larger care homes which are registered to provide residential care. Residential care is a last resort in most cases and any application for residential care would be based on assessment of what best suits your needs.

Residential Communities
Also known as Intentional Communities or Village Communities In this situation people live in properties situated in the particular community they have chosen and are members of that community

Supported Living.
People are supported to live in their own tenancy in some cases people live alone and in other cases they share with one or two other people. People in this situation always have a tenancy.

Local Network
This is a local network where people live close to each other in their own home but not next door to each other. By living close they can support each other. Local Networks usually have a community living worker who lives in the network area and supports people who are part of the network.

Sheltered Housing
The individual has their own flat within a larger group of flats. This accommodation is designed for people of retirement age but it is possible for people below retirement age to be considered if it is appropriate to their needs
