Including bathroom and toilet aids, chairs, stair lifts, moving and handling equipment, hoists, kitchen and feeding aids, beds and bed accessories, dressing equipment, personal care aids and many, many more

Information and advice

The centre's occupational therapists are available to give information and advice to enable you to make the right choices about equipment.
Information on how to obtain equipment is also provided. 

Advice on equipment for people who are deaf or hard of hearing  *

Do you have difficulty hearing the doorbell, the telephone or the television?

Merseyside Centre for Deaf People can advise and inform you about equipment and services that can help.

If you live in Liverpool City Council or Wirral area MSDP may be able to provide you with equipment free of charge

Advice for people who are Blind or have a visual impairment *

An advisor from Bradbury Fields ( formerly Liverpool Voluntary Society for the Blind ) will also be at our OPEN DAY on Tuesday 28th October 2008 between 1-4pm demonstrating a range of useful equipment fro people who have a visual impairment eg. talking clocks and watches, kitchen scales, calculator, audible liquid level indicators, tactile markers and magnifiers.

Consumer advice *

Are you considering making a major purchase or having some building work done?
Are you having any consumer problems?
Advice is available from Liverpool Trading Standards on Wednesday OPEN DAY only.

Advice on walking aids *

For information and advice on all types of walking aids come along to an OPEN DAY and discuss your needs with a member of Liverpool's Community Physiotherapy Team. 

Chair and profiling bed advice *

Assessment and advice for people considering purchasing a high seat chair, riser recliner, specialist chair or profiling bed. In partnership with The Care Team, an independent company.

Wheelchair Advice *

If you need a wheelchair come and discuss your needs with a representative of Liverpool Wheelchair Service. Advice is available on wheelchair assessment and provision, the voucher scheme and Liverpool Wheelchair User Group.

Communication Aid Advice *

Do you have little or no speech?   A communication aid may help.   Come and find out what equipment and support is available.   Advice is provided by Liverpool Communication Aid Service

Continence Advice *

Liverpool Continence Promotion Service in partnership with Liverpool Disabled Living Centre

  •   Do you have slight or severe incontinence of bladder or bowel ? 
  •  Do you care for someone affected by incontinence ? 
  •  Do you have difficulty getting to the toilet or managing when you get there ? 
  •  Do you need advice on continence and continence products ? 

For friendly, expert confidential information and advice come along to a Tuesday Open Day at Liverpool Disabled Living Centre on any of the following dates in 2008:-

NATIONAL FALLS AWARENESS EVENT
National Falls Awareness Day takes place in June 2008.  Liverpool's Specialist Falls Team will be at Liverpool Disabled Living Centre's Open Day on Wednesday 25th June 2008 between 10am and 1pm
A Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, and Podiatrist will offer advice on how to prevent falls, home safety, the benefits of appropriate exercise and information on suitable footwear and footcare.
As well as the Falls Team the usual team of Open Day advisors will be available with the opportunity to see hundreds of products designed to make life safer and easier for older and disabled people.
The theme of National Falls Awareness Day 2008 is 'Stepping Out' - Help The Aged are urging local authorities to repair dangerous pavements.  For further information on this campaign visit www.helptheaged.org.uk

  CHILDREN'S EQUIPMENT DAY
Thursday 9th October 2008

Having settled in to our new home at Lifehouse LDLC is planning to recommence our Children's Equipment Days.  The events, usually held twice a year, are organised in partnership with Liverpool Children's Community Occupational Therapy Service.
This year we will also be working with June Hill of Liverpool Parent Carer Forum to arrange a morning conference for parents of disabled children in Liverpool and afternoon talks for young people, parents, carers, staff and students running in tandem with the equipment demonstrations. As well as the programme there will be demonstrations of equipment for children with disabilities - if there is any equipment you would like to see please call Jan on 0151 296 7742.  suppliers confirmed to date include James Leckey ,JCM, Windmill and Baronmead, Swift Style, Carefree Lifting, Quest 88
