Most children become ill from time to time. Usually their illnesses are not serious and can be treated easily at home, your local pharmacist can advise you about minor childhood ailments for example coughs, colds and stomach upsets. 

Your health visitor is also excellent source of advice and information. Your health visitor will usually work from your GP's surgery and will monitor your child's health up to the age of five. 

Your health visitor can also give you advice about feeding, general health and immunisations. You can find out more about health visitors and what they do on the health visitors website.

If you are worried about your child's health you can get help and advice from your GP, contact the surgery for details of opening times and appointments.

NHS direct is a nurse led advice and information service which is available by telephone 24 hours a day seven days a week who will give advice and information over the phone The Number is 0845 46 47.  

NHS direct also have their own website where you can find information about illnesses and also about the latest treatments. 

Liverpool is also home to the famous Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital , Alder Hey. Alder hey provides treatment for children with illnesses and diseases from all over the UK . It also has an accident and emergency department which is open 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Minor injuries can also be treated at the Children's Minor Injuries unit at Smithdown Road, Liverpool L15 2LQ . tel 0151 733 4644 which is a specialist resource for Children.
